Weightlifting Ireland is the national governing body for the sport of weightlifting in Ireland. Weightlifting is an Olympic sport, and Weightlifting Ireland organises competitions open to male and female members across all four provinces.
The sport has grown rapidly over the past three years and there are more opportunities than ever to get involved in the sport of weightlifting and to represent Ireland internationally.
Last year Irish athletes won medals at the European Junior Weightlifting Championships (Clarence Kennedy, 94kg, Kerry) and the Women's International Grand Prix (Alexandria Craig, 53kg, Dublin) and Weightlifting Ireland is looking forward to even greater success this year.
The all Ireland body as affiliated to the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) and the Irish Sports Council.
